Test centers make individual decisions about whether to administer the SAT, and they may close before the administration, right up until test day. We ask test centers to report closures to College Board as soon as possible. Before the UTRGV merger, the University of Texas–Pan American sponsored eight men's and nine women's teams in NCAA-sanctioned sports. About a year before the merger, the UT System announced that UTRGV would inherit the UTPA athletic program, and the UTPA Broncs officially became the UTRGV Vaqueros on July 1, 2015. In Forbes' 2009 best college rankings that heavily weighted proportion of graduates who obtain a job upon graduation, UTPA ranked 32nd among public universities and 218th among all universities.
Prior to AVANCE, Dr. Granillo served six years as Executive Director of Con Mi MADRE, another two-generation organization that supports young Latinas on the path to higher education. Before Con Mi MADRE, Dr. Granillo was a tenure-track professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Steve Hicks School of Social Work. As a Latina raised by a single mother, Dr. Granillo knows firsthand how education ends the cycle of poverty and has dedicated her career to ensuring that all individuals have access to high quality education.

Most of the academic buildings are enclosed by or span a covered walkway over the perimeter of the original campus. In 2007, UTPA added a new wellness center, and dormitory (Unity Dormitory 2007). On the northeast corner of campus is the Edinburg Baseball Stadium, which is considered one of the premier college baseball settings. Two days after the new mascot was approved, the UTPA student government passed a resolution in opposition, and three days later, hundreds of students rallied on the Edinburg campus to protest the new name. Dr. Kramer Santamaria is the former Director of the Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center, an early childhood dual language school for pre-k and Kindergarten students in Austin, Texas. Dr. Kramer Santamaria has over 20 years of experience in education ranging from being an elementary school Principal, to overseeing teacher training and education, to being the Director of Parent Programs.
Dr. Daniel P. King serves as an education and healthcare advisor to Education Results Partnership. A long-time public school Superintendent, Dr. King was named state Superintendent of the Year in 2006 by the Texas Association of School Boards. In 2019, Dr. King retired as Superintendent of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District . Under his leadership, PSJA reduced the number of annual dropouts and increased the four-year graduation rate and overall high school completion rates to surpass state averages. He completed his undergraduate and Master’s degree at The University of Texas-Pan American. Vanessa Maldonado is the Executive Director of AVANCE-North Texas.
Hutchinson County
She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Mary’s University and her Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. With two weeks left in the season, five teams are on the hunt for the 2021 High School Football America national title. The last Texas team to win a High School Football America national championship was the Allen Eagles, who won three straight titles from 2012 through 2014. With one month to go until the 2021 High School Football America national champ is crowned, Mater Dei continues to control its destiny. However, if the Monarchs slip up, there are three Texas high school football teams in the Top 5 waiting to ascend to the top spot. In Arizona, No. 11 Chandler and No. 16 Hamilton will face off to wrap up the regular season.
Maldonado joined AVANCE-North Texas with a degree in nonprofit management from St. Edward’s University and more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership and development. Most recently, she served as the Chief Engagement Officer for Easterseals, a nonprofit organization that promotes independence and creates opportunities for people with disabilities. In this previous role, Maldonado managed the organization’s fundraising activities, retail operations, communications, marketing, and advocacy in Central and North Texas. Elida joined AVANCE in 1998 and has spent most of her career in leadership roles in accounting, finance and business development. She was born and raised in the community where AVANCE began and has seen first-hand how the Parent-Child Education Program has impacted the lives of those in her community.

Hundreds of students, staff, parents, and community members attended the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo 3rd Annual PSJA Family Posada held at the PSJA Stadium on Thursday, Dec 15, 2022. Colleges understand that not all students are able to take a college entrance exam because of test center closures and reduced capacity due to covid-19. Most colleges aren’t requiring a test score for the upcoming admissions cycle. While almost all still accept scores, most are rightfully being flexible for students who are unable to test.
We encourage you to check the test center closures page the morning of test day. There may be limited testing capacity in certain areas due to public health restrictions and high demand. While College Board can't directly control test center capacity and availability, we're working to ensure as many students as possible are able to test safely.

Trinity Christian Academy climbed back into the Top 100 after knocking off No. 36 American Heritage . TCA, which was ranked No. 36 two weeks ago, checks back in at No. 84 this week. Right behind Mater Dei are a pair of two-time defending state champs — Westlake at No. 2 and Thompson at No. 3. This week, top-ranked Mater Dei travels to No. 4 St. John Bosco in a colossal matchup. Hough is the biggest climber of the week, ascending 35 spots to No. 49. The Marauders are a perfect 4-0 after beating previously unbeaten Seton Hall Prep in double overtime.
During this past weekend, 13 teams in the HSFA 100 won state championships. BC will play arch-rival Don Bosco Prep Saturday for the Non-Public A state championship. During the regular season, the undefeated Crusaders shut out Bosco 17-0 on September 24. A showdown between No. 2 Westlake and No. 61 Lake Travis looms this week with the Texas District 26-6A championship on the line. The rivalry game, known as the "Battle of the Lakes," began in 2006. Westlake will be looking for its second straight Texas high school football championship when the playoffs begin in two weeks.
We ask test centers that decide they need to close or reduce the number of students who can test to contact College Board as soon as possible so we can help ensure students are informed ahead of test day. Students should frequently check email and the test center closure page before and on test day to confirm their center is open. Make sure we can get in touch with you by email and/or text message if your center decides to close or reduce capacity between now and test day. We know schools and test centers are continuing to navigate uncertainties due to covid-19.
